Dictionaries

Introduction

Dictionaries consist of predefined sets of keys and their values.

Color formatting for lookup/dictionary values

To use this functionality, a system administrator can enable it via the system settings.

In System Settings → General Settings → User Interface, please set "Use lookup value color."

Colors are based on Dictionary mapping found in Presentations - Tools Mapping:

Same values are used for presentation filters on drawings.

Import & Export of Dictionary Values via Excel File

An additional option for exporting and importing dictionaries has been added, in addition to the existing options for JSON or XML formats.

This enhancement allows users to export and import either all or a selected dictionary to/from an Excel sheet.

To receive correct format of excel sheet for importing, please first export dictionaries and use created sheet as a template.

When importing, you have the option to "skip matched" dictionaries (matching is based on dictionary name).

If this option is selected, only new dictionaries will be imported. If the option is turned off, then the keys and values of existing dictionaries in the database will be replaced by those in the Excel sheet.

Each dictionary will be listed on separate tab of excel sheet.

When modifying excel sheet manually for importing it to HDC, only Dictionary NamecomponentId and Value columns have to be filled but Dictionary ID and Seq columns should not be removed.

When import is done then the summary window will open

Please keep in mind that dictionaries are versioned, which means it is not possible to modify dictionaries on a strict version.

Using a draft is necessary for any modifications. Additionally, attempting to modify a dictionary that has already been changed in an unpublished draft on a newer version of the system will result in an error.

Option to Display Both Key and Value in Dictionary List

Users now have the option to display both the key and value for dictionary (lookup) fields. This new parameter has been added to the User Profile (General tab).

When the option is turned on, the key of the dictionary item will be displayed on the Object's Edit form.
